Hi everyone…

Sometimes in life, we get a chance to do something good. But we think that this is such a small thing, what difference would it make? IT CAN MAKE A BIG DIFFERENCE!!! You want to know how? Let me tell you a real incident…

One fine day, Raksha was sitting inside her car. There was a traffic jam in the road, and for more than an hour, no vehicles were moving. She was totally irritated and angry. The only thing to keep her sane was the radio playing FM channels inside her car.

Raksha saw a boy selling roses. She thought the boy was too well-dressed to sell roses. He was wearing blue jeans and a red shirt, which, though it didn’t look new, didn’t look well-worn either. The guy came towards her window and pleadingly asked, “Madam, will you buy a rose?”

Raksha’s friend was about to shoo him away when she suddenly asked him, “You don’t look that poor! Why are you selling roses?” He replied, “Madam today is my birthday. Selling roses is something which I do every day. All days are same for me but I wanted to feel a bit special today. So am wearing good clothes.” Raksha was moved and bought two roses from the boy, one for herself and one for her friend. The boy thanked her and left.

But Raksha was not satisfied. She wanted to do something more for the boy. She could still see him offering roses at every open window of the numerous cars stranded in the road. No one seemed to buy anything from him. She felt sorry for the boy and asked her friend who was sitting with her, “Can’t we do anything for the boy?” Her friend laughed and said, “Dear. We cannot do anything for him that will solve his problem permanently. You bought some roses from him for one day, but you may not even see him everyday. You cannot buy the roses everyday from him!” Raksha felt very sad and gloomy.

At that time, the radio was announcing about the traffic jam. Raksha heard the RJ saying that there must be about 70 to 80 cars stranded in that particular road at that time. She had a brainwave!!

The RJ was asking people to call him and request for their choice of the song. As soon as Raksha heard him tell the number, she immediately dialed the same from her mobile. She only prayed that the number should be available. And true enough, the number got connected!!! The IVRS system got activated, asking her to leave a message. Raksha left the following message: ‘This is for everyone who is listening to this channel now and are stranded at Palm Beach Road. There’s a guy wearing a red shirt and blue jeans, selling roses. There is nothing special about him to remark, except that today is his birthday. I know this may not mean anything to all you busy people out there. But if each one of you buys a single rose from him today, his earnings will increase for the day. This may not be possible tomorrow, but we would be giving something valuable to him: that is HOPE. We would be proving that all days are not same and that good days will come in future. So I request you all people to buy atleast a single rose from him, just to make his day. Thanks!!!’

Having done this, Raksha sat back, satisfied. Her friend stared at her as if she had grown a second head. But it didn’t matter. She had done her little bit for the boy.

Sure enough, her efforts were rewarded, when she saw the boy after some time, with no roses in his hand and a broad wide smile, while he busily counted the coins he had earned!

Suffice to say, that no good deed goes unnoticed. It may seem hard to believe but people actually find reasons to be of help. All you need to do is to take the initiative from your side. You may begin the process alone but very soon you will find an entire caravan behind you!

Don’t all of us come across such situations often? But it takes some effort and loads of compassion to undertake a simple task like this. Who says people have lost on to their humanity?

No good deed is small. Tiny drops of water make an ocean and if all of us contribute drops of humanity then one day the ocean of humanity and love that we form will make this world a much much better place to live in. Please keep coming up with more such articles so that we get our daily dose of our much-needed values that we tend to forget in our daily lives. We have not lost on humanity, but it is only that it needs to be awakened from time to time.

Its all about who wants to take initiative. People start thinking about the result before taking any action ti help any one. Well said that 'no deed is small 'and one positive step may convince others to take similar steps. Good story.
